Melissa Smith was searching for some comfort in her time of need. Little did she know that she would find much more than that.
She was dealing with a few health issues during a visit to Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital in Michigan. She saw the stained-glass windows of the hospital’s church and decided to walk inside with her fiancé, Charles “Chuck” Brodberg.
In the video below, posted on February 24, 2017, Melissa recalls: “When I came in, we walked over to the Bible there and we were just kind of skimming through it and I was reading something, but when Chuck turned the page, that’s when the letter fell out.”
Melissa picked up the thin piece of paper and began to read the note, which appeared to be from a little girl. It said:
Dear God,Please help my dad get better. Please God and one more thing. Please help my mom and dad get back together P.S.Love,Bianca.
“Seeing something like that from a child is just a true blessing, it really is,” Melissa says.
“Pretty neat for a little kid to do something like that,” Chuck adds.
After realizing how the letter had touched their hearts, they decided to pass it along via social media. Chuck took to Facebook and made a post about the child’s letter to God, hoping that strangers would pray for the little girl and end up feeling some comfort themselves.
The hospital’s chaplain, Ed Gilbert, found out and realized that Bianca wasn’t the only child to leave a letter to God in the tiny church. He said that the “prayer of a child sometimes is more powerful faith than some of us adults.”
